I would love for you to feel great about your skin. So there are a few things that are easily accessible that can improve your skin’s health that you have access to everyday. And if you are not doing them already, now is the time to begin.
Skin needs healthy building blocks to grow healthy skin cells, you also do not want to damage the skin’s epidermis (the most outer layer of the skin) and the keratinocytes (cells that make up the epidermis).
1. Stay Hydrated
It is important to drink enough water and to absorb that water, so make sure you are getting enough minerals. You can take trace minerals like Irish Sea moss ( I love the one created by Human Garage, there is also Concentrace or start by adding a small pinch of sea salt to about 2-3 cups of the 8 glasses (average) you are drinking each day. Also make sure you start the day off right. As we sleep we become dehydrated and upon waking our bodies need water. Have a large cup by your bedside and drink upon waking to start the day with a flush and dose of much needed hydration.
2. Essential fatty acids
Omega’s 3,6,9 are essential for healthy skin cells and great skin. Fish and fish oils, flax and chia seeds and their oils, walnuts and dark leafy greens are your go to’s. Sometimes just eating them is not enough unless you want to consume huge amounts so I recommend taking them in oil form to get your daily dose easily add to salad dressings, rice or veggies your body will love you for it. I highly recommend sealicious as a supplement, I like the Rasberry/lemon flavour (yes it’s oily but my body says YES). If you are vegetarian or vegan both hemp and flax oils will do the trick, also walnuts, yumm!
3. Antioxidants
Eat these foods everyday in high amounts to neutralize free radicals that cause damage to the body and skin. Broccoli, spinach, carrots, potatoes, artichokes, cabbage, asparagus, beets, radish, lettuce, pumpkin, squash, collards and kale. Not to mention blueberries 🥰
4. Sleep Hygiene
Sleep is essential for neutralizing stress, giving the body time to repair and the mind time to rest. If you are not getting enough sleep seek out some support to help find those zzz’s. Seeking a qualified health practitioner is your best bet to finding what is right for you.
5. Exercise
Getting your sweat on, is also an essential part of reducing stress, feeling tired and getting helping you sleep, circulation and keeping the body feeling good. 3-4 times a week is plenty, more also works too. No stress needing to figuring it out if you are not sure what you should do, just go for a walk. Or anything else that lights you up, just move.
6. Limit Sun Exposure
I am all for going outside in the early morning or evening when the sun is not too strong and getting that vitamin D but during the hottest times of day, please protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Back in the day when we had an ozone layer it was much more safe. Now if you are out on the water or the beach, or just put for your daily walk when the sun is high protect your skin cells from damage with SPF AND a hat. We are not food baking in the sun. You are permanently damage your skin, there is no fixing it later. Be kind to your self please!
Wishing you all radiant and glowing skin always

]]>As we welcome in fall and a season of change, can we please leave the idea of ANTI-aging behind?!!!! It is not a fight with our skin, or a competition with each other. We are not trying to stop aging, that is not a realistic idea. Your skin will age (no matter how old you are).
I really would like for you to start thinking about caring for your skin in a way that will allow you to connect with your skin's own natural ability to heal & age gracefully and with vibrancy, by making healthy & clean choices. This is attainable for everyone of all ages, right now ♡
Have you noticed a change in your skin as the season begins to shift? This time of year your skin is craving gentle exfoliation and extra hydration. It is a great time to get a facial or try one of our best selling products GLOW: a gentle resurfacing jelly that removes dead skin cells and allows deeper penetration of serums and moisturizers. This handy little treatment also targets specific concerns like dehydration, breakouts, dryness, and inflammation.
Your routine can be simple with a cleanser, gentle exfoliant, moisturizer -- and still be very effective. But, I wanted to give you full regimen just in case you want to amp up your self care and go deeper into vibrancy as you shift your skin into fall.
